  • Unfolding sustainability through innovative green digital solutions

From 3 to 13 July in Rennes

The EIT Digital Summer School in Rennes is a unique opportunity to meet high-level speakers, professionals and international students.

For a fortnight, you will be immersed in an innovative project in a collective and concrete way.

This is an interdisciplinary programme. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply (law, geography, sociology, computer science, arts, economics, etc.).

It is time to deploy the potential of digital solutions by creating services that contribute to environmental protection, developing responsible information and communication technologies and designing products that are more sustainable in their use and manufacturing process.

  • Inclusive Mobility

26 June to 7 July in Rennes & Ghent

The universities of Ghent, Belgium, and Rennes, France, will design and host a two-week summer school focusing on the transition to a better mobility system that minimises air pollution and improves quality of life.

This is an interdisciplinary programme. Students from all disciplines are encouraged to apply (law, geography, sociology, computer science, arts, economics, etc.).

Through intensive training in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (I&E), you will identify challenges related to inclusion in intermodal mobility and design innovative solutions to improve not only physical, financial and information accessibility.

ENSSAT - Connecting your IoT devices

ENSSAT is offering a Summer School from June 12th to 16th (online courses) and from June 20th to July 4th 2023 (in situ).

Are you interested in the fields of digital engineering? Do you want to learn more about the IoT devices? ENSSAT summer school is meant for you. Join us for an exciting and rewarding experience in the beautiful region of Brittany, Lannion, France. Held at ENSSAT, a French graduate engineering school part of the Grandes Écoles within University of Rennes.
Take the opportunity to enrich your academic skills, earn 4 credits, meet lifelong friends and have fun during our social activities.

The "Connecting your IoT devices" Summer School is organized to offer 4 ECTS in the fields of digital electronics, embedded software and networking for IoT. Both hardware and software aspects of IoT will be presented and discussed during the school, and hands-on practical courses will allow attendees to familiarize with IoT standards. The project will enable you to solve a societal issue with the support of a local company called Eco-Counter which provides solutions to analyse the flow of pedestrians and bikes around the world.

Tuition fees:
- €1050 full price
- €950 Early Birds individual application before 21 February

Costs cover tuition fees, social events, visits, accommodation, meals (breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks).

IGR-IAE - The Future of Management

OSUR - Environmental Point Clouds Classification

The CNRS, the University of Rennes and the University of Potsdam are pleased to announce their summer school on "Environmental point clouds classification" which will be held online on 15 May and in person from 12 to 15 June in Rennes (France)

15 May will be dedicated to a introduction to point clouds in the geosciences, classification and machine learning.

Fom 12 to 15 June, theoretical background and practical applications.

In addition to the teaching, 4 invited speakers will present thier work in particular but not only on deep learning on 3D point clouds. It will be possible to remotely attend the invited conferences without registration and details will be made available at a later date.

Audience

  • Early career researchers (e.g., postdoctoral researchers, lecturers, and Asst. Professors)
  • Graduate students
  • Research support engineers
  • Staff from companies and agencies using point clouds in the field of geosciences

Objectives

  • Understanding classical airborne-lidar tools to classify points, especially ground points: principles, caveats, and pitfalls.
  • Concepts of machine learning for classification and introduction to deep learning.
  • Creating labels for improved classification with CloudCompare and Python-based approaches.
  • Learn how to use 3DMASC, a new classification plugin for CloudCompare.
  • Learn how to use Python for custom-based point cloud classification.
  • Applying the tools on various datasets (natural and mixed urban environments) from different sources: ALS, TLS, SfM.

The organizers are still finalizing the program and we are selecting invited speakers. The program will be updated and will be accessible from the main menu (top left menu).

Please note that programming skills in Python are expected from the audience!

Application

 The number of students being limited to 30 as a maximum, this will be a two-step registration:

  • Pre-registration on the website until 31 March (please fill in carefully the section Status/motivation of the form)
  • Final registration and online payments (in case of validation) will take place at the beginning of April.

- €1000 Staff from private sector 1000€

All pauses, lunches (12, 13, 14, 15) and dinners except 14 June (12, 13, 15) are included in the registration fees. Accommodation is not included.

International PhD programme

PhD students can obtain two doctorate degrees by carrying out a joint PhD degree officialised by an international convention, known as a cotutelle, signed by the PhD student, the PhD supervisors and the partner institutions.

The University of Rennes has around 100 ongoing Joint PhD degrees with partners around the world. Each year, approximately 20 PhD students defend their thesis within this cotutelle scheme.
