Awarded on the 2020 call for proposals “Science with and for the Society”(SwafS), launched by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 program, EDUC-SHARE is the Research and Innovation part of the EDUC (European Digital UniverCity) Alliance.

EDUC-SHARE is building up in the steps of the Erasmus + pilot EDUC, with the ambition that the EDUC Alliance became a University fully integrated, who fulfill all its missions: education, research and innovation, societal liability, to the European scale.

Coordinated by the University of Rennes 1, this European initiative was launched the 12th of March 2021 for a 3 years period.

Ambition and goals

EDUC-SHARE centers around 6 axes composed of 6 focuses :

1/ The implementation of a long term research and innovation agenda in order to answer the great societal challenges in the multidisciplinary approach

Leader : University of Cagliari, Italy

The objective is to increase and/or reinforce research collaborations between members in order to arise multidisciplinary teams and meet the global challenges at the Alliance level (and beyond).

New synergies that could lead to more joint applications and potentially more success, especially in Horizon Europe and Erasmus + programs.

2/ The development and share of research Infrastructure

Leader : University of Masaryk, Czech Republic

The aim is to enable, promote and steer open access to research infrastructures within the EDUC Alliance and therefore allow researchers to use those infrastructures as part of a common strategy and a shared open science action plan.

3/ The citizen implication in science and its role in society

Leader : University of Potsdam, Germany

It is an opportunity to share and compare experiences in scientific mediation and participatory science and to place popularisation events aimed at the general public, and in particular the younger generations, on a European scale. It is also about promoting sustainable campus models co-constructed with citizens and local authorities

4/ The reinforcement of regional ecosystems and their connection

Leader : University of Pécs, Hungary

This axis aims to strengthen regional innovation and technology transfer ecosystems and their connection, by developing, at the EDUC level, relations with socio-economic actors and the networking of all the university actors concerned, starting with two pilot areas of cooperation in innovation and technology transfer ecosystems : Cybersecurity/Artificial Intelligence and Culture and Heritage.

The project aims to inspire and catalyse innovative entrepreneurial collaborations and to develop the entrepreneurial spirit and skills of researchers by encouraging and supporting the process of valorisation and business creation.

5/ The share of continuous improvement processes in terms of human resources through the Human Resources Strategy for Researchers (HSR4R) procedure

Leader : University of Rennes 1, France

Among the 6-member universities of the EDUC Alliance, 3 have been awarded the HR Excellence in Research label, like the University of Rennes 1, while the other 3 are not yet involved in the process. This line of work will allow us to benefit from the good practices of our partners in order to accompany its deployment, by defining common principles of ethics, equality, parity and ways to improve the training offer, the management, the working conditions and the professional future of young researchers.

6/ The development of soft skills training offers for researchers and administrators

Leader : University of Paris-Nanterre, France

The aim is to set up a programme to raise awareness and develop soft skills for teachers/researchers and administrative staff, with an emphasis on transferable international and interpersonal skills. This is an asset for the attractiveness of the member universities and to open up career development and professional mobility opportunities for staff.
